How to Cook Frozen Pizza in Microwave

Although I love to make homemade pizzas, sometimes I just want to go the easy route. Frozen pizzas, to the rescue! If you’re a frozen pizza fan, you’re in the right place. Today we’re talking about how to cook frozen pizza in the microwave with amazing results.

Can you microwave frozen pizza? The answer is Yes!

Hi, pizza fanatics! My name is Michelle, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have frozen pizzas in the freezer 24/7, 365. They’re great when I don’t feel like cooking, or my kids want pizza in their lunch pails.

The microwave is super handy for all kinds of things, including microwaving frozen pizzas. The best part is, there is no thawing required, and most pizzas will cook in less than ten minutes. Just stick it in, turn it on, and wait impatiently for the ooey-gooey goodness to cook.

Let’s talk about how to cook frozen pizzas in the microwave.

How to Cook Frozen Pizza in the Microwave

When it comes to cooking frozen pizza in the microwave, it’s easy. In fact, it might be one of the easiest things you’ve ever done. The key is to know how long to cook it. I’ve had my fair share of overcooked frozen pizzas. Yuck!

1. Don’t Thaw

Although it might seem tempting, you do not need to thaw frozen pizzas. You can simply take them out of the freezer, remove any packaging, and plop it into the microwave. Make sure you’re placing it on top of a microwave-safe plate!

2. Use a Microwave Crisper Pan (Optional)

Do you love crispy pizza crusts? Do you not care in the slightest? I’m a fan of crispy pizza crust myself, but the microwave will not provide the crispy texture I desire. If you’re anything like me and love crispy crust, consider buying a microwave crisper pan.

Microwave crisper pans will ensure that your pizza ends up with a desirable crispy texture, just as it would if you used another cooking method like the oven or air fryer.

If you don’t want to go out of your way to buy a microwave crisper pan, you can always use your stovetop, too. To do this, you will cook your pizza in the microwave for the recommended amount of time (see below). Then, when it’s done, place it in a piping hot skillet and let it crisp up.

Your last option is to place a glass of water in the microwave while your pizza is cooking. The water will absorb moisture and help the crust to stay nice and crisp. It’s a handy and cheap trick that can work wonders on your microwaved pizza.

The cooking time will change depending on the size and type of pizza you’re microwaving. For example, a deep-dish pizza has a thicker crust that may need an extra minute or two, while a mini pizza with a thin crust will only need a few minutes.

Here is a basic overview of how long to cook pizzas in the microwave:

Pizza Slice1 to 2 Minutes
Mini Pizza3 to 4 Minutes
8-inch Pizza4 to 6 Minutes
10-inch Pizza5 to 7 Minutes
12-inch Pizza7 to 10 Minutes

Pizzas should be baked on the high setting of your microwave. Although these are the basic guidelines for heating pizza in the microwave, I recommend keeping a close eye on them. Consider doing 30-second intervals after the three-minute mark to avoid overcooking.

You should also pay attention to the directions on the back of the box. Most microwave pizzas will have suggestions on how long to cook the pizza in the microwave. Obviously, the company knows its product, and you should listen to their heating suggestions.

Yup, you sure can! It just won’t provide the crispy crust or golden cheese that an oven or air fryer would produce unless you use a microwave crisper pan. Most frozen pizzas are done in less than ten minutes!

How long do you cook a frozen pizza in the microwave?

That depends on many factors, including the size of the pizza, the thickness of the crust, and toppings. The bigger the pizza, the longer it needs to cook in the microwave. Thicker crusts will also need a minute or two more to cook over other, thinner crust types.

What is the best way to cook a frozen pizza?

The oven is going to be the best place to cook a frozen pizza. It provides the ideal texture for the crust and the cheese. However, the air fryer is a close second. The air fryer provides even more crispiness, which to me, is a major plus.

Final Words

You can successfully cook frozen pizza in a microwave. The cooking time depends on the size of the pizza and the thickness of the crust. You can use a microwave crisper pan to make the pizza crispy or add a cup of water to the microwave. You can also zap it over the stove.

Your article for microwave pizza sounds terrific. Problem is, my nephews want it tomorrow. I’ll never get a Crisper Pan before next week. Neither my nephews or cats drive. So, where do I put the glass of water in the microwave. Will a big enough glass fit in the corners? I was thinking about cutting a hole in the center of the pizza, but I know someone will spill it (probably me).
