Location in Costco Store
The Costco Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake is easy to find.
All you need to do is head back to the bakery section of Costco. It will be in the refrigerator section, surrounded by other yummy Costco desserts, including the cheesecake.
In my shop, it’s located on the lower shelves.
The item number for the Costco Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake is 40708.
Price
This delightful tuxedo cake is $16.99.
Now, you might think this is a hefty price tag, but believe me, it’s not.
For $16.99, you can get around 2.6 pounds worth of cake, which equates to about 12 servings (or more if you slice smaller pieces).
It’s a bargain, especially if you want a cake that doesn’t taste store-bought!
Ease of Use/Store
Serving couldn’t be easier!
Simply take off the lid, slice the cake, and serve. If you have leftovers, reapply the top and place it in the refrigerator or freezer.
Because the container (and cake) is long and lean, it can fit snugly in your appliance without taking up too much room (which I love!).
Remember that the Costco Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake contains dairy products, so it must be kept refrigerated or frozen until serving. In the fridge, this cake lasts around three days and three months in the freezer.
Taste
OK, let’s get into the flavor.
Honestly, you guys, this cake is utterly incredible. It tastes like a high-end cake you’d get at a fancy bakery. Yet, it’s sitting right in Costco for just $16.99.
What do I love about it?
Let’s start with the chocolate cake. The chocolate flavor is just right, and the texture is unbelievably moist and tender.
Now, let’s talk about the chocolate and vanilla mousse layers. That’s right – this cake has both, and each one is amazing. Personally, I enjoyed the vanilla mousse the best, simply because I prefer vanilla over chocolate. However, both mousses were sensationally sweet and creamy.
Finally, let’s talk about the ganache on top. This is my least favorite part of the cake, although it’s still pretty yummy.
An entire mouthful of this cake is simply a masterpiece of flavors, especially when you get a piece with one of the hidden miniature brownie pieces.
I also enjoyed that there were a few candy sticks on top. Not only did this enhance the visuals of this cake, but it added some crunch to each bite – which I greatly appreciated.
I can easily see how some people might find this cake too rich. But for me and my kids, it was right on target!
Just look at those flawless layers!
Pierce said it was the best chocolate cake he’s ever had! Mackenzie also enjoyed it.
Nutrition
Well, as much as I adore this tuxedo cake, there is one thing I really don’t like – the list of ingredients.
I mean, seriously, this list is long and contains a lot of ingredients, some of which you might not want to consume regularly.
That said, I’d keep this cake as an extra special treat you only eat occasionally, such as for a special occasion.
Note: This cake contains allergens, including wheat, egg, soy, and milk. It’s also made in a facility that may have peanut, tree nuts, and sesame products.
In terms of calories, the Costco Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake isn’t much different than any other type of cake.
Each serving contains 370 calories, with 23 grams of fat, 24 grams of sugar, and 37 grams of carbohydrates.
That said, is this cake “healthy?” No. Is it worse than other cakes? Also, no. Enjoy it in moderation!
Final Verdict
All in all, I’m a big fan of the Costco Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake – and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t consider themselves a chocolate cake fanatic. I loved all of the different layers, which ultimately created an explosion of delectable flavors in my mouth.
