Chocolate-covered strawberries are almost as fun to make as they are to eat. But if you’re considering taking your strawberry-dipping adventures to the business level, you need to know how much to charge per chocolate-covered strawberry.
For the most part, you can charge $1 to $2 per chocolate-covered strawberry. However, keep in mind that this price can fluctuate depending on many factors, such as decoration, packaging, and more.
Hello, there! My name’s Michelle, and I love chocolate-covered strawberries. In fact, it’s been a yearly gift from my dad to my mom on Mother’s Day for the past ten years. So sweet, right? Me, on the other hand? I make and sell chocolate-covered strawberries.
Let’s discuss pricing, ladies, and gents!

How Much are Chocolate-Covered Strawberries?
Before we decide on the chocolate-covered strawberry price, we first need to look at our expenses.
The good thing about chocolate-covered strawberries is that they’re relatively cheap. Most grocery stores sell strawberry containers for a buck or two. Then, all you need are some baking chips, which tend to cost a dollar or less.
You can stop there – or you can purchase additional items like sprinkles, frosting, etc. You can keep your chocolate-covered strawberries as simple or as lavish as you’d prefer.
Don’t forget about the packaging! These boxes run less than $1 per box, so you can sell a lot of chocolate-covered strawberries without breaking the bank.
Ultimately, you end up spending less than $5 per box of chocolate-covered strawberries. If you place ten in a box, you can easily sell them for $10 to $20.
How Much to Charge for Chocolate-Covered Strawberries?
If you’re going with a “basic” chocolate-covered strawberry – i.e., you’re using regular strawberries and dipping them into a bowl of chocolate and nothing more – you can charge $1 to $2 per strawberry.
However, there are a few essential factors to consider when deciding on a final price.
1. Decorations
While a plain chocolate-covered strawberry is delightful, you can take the experience to the next level by adding decorations. Decorations will not only enhance the beauty and aesthetics of your dipped fruit but will also add some extra sweetness to cure any throbbing sweet tooth.
Decorations are a bit more limited on a chocolate-covered strawberry compared to something like a cupcake or cake, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative. Sprinkles and striped drizzles are popular, but some have taken it further with intricate patterns and designs.
If you choose to add decor, you can up the price by $0.10 to $0.50, depending on how detailed it is.
2. Colors
A regular chocolate-dipped strawberry will be brown. But if you use white chocolate with some food coloring, you can create stunning colors to suit any event. For instance, you can make pink or blue strawberries for a baby shower.
If you’re going with a single color, you can increase the price by about $0.10. If you’re creating a rainbow of chocolate-covered strawberries, increase the price by a dollar or two per box.
3. Price of Chocolate
Not everyone will use baking chips they find in the grocery store. Some may use imported, super high-quality chocolate that is well worth the high price tag.
Those using expensive chocolate will need to relay this info to their customer base. After all, they will need to shell out a few extra dollars (or more) depending on the original price of the chocolate.
4. Packaging
A regular box of chocolate-covered strawberries is relatively cheap. But what if your customer is requesting a customized package? Obviously, you will need to charge more to handle the added cost and time necessary to do so.
Other than that, some people may simply want to choose more luxurious packaging for their chocolate-covered strawberries rather than a plain old “box.” Sound like you? Then you can expect to charge your customers an extra $0.50 to $1 per strawberry.
5. Extras
Extras aren’t a must, but they’re something to consider. A great example is offering multiple fruits besides strawberries. You can provide a chocolate-covered fruit box that includes strawberries, orange slices, blueberries, pineapples, and other fan favorites.
You can create unique boxes that pair your chocolate-covered strawberries with a wine bottle and customized wine glasses. In a circumstance like this, you will likely expect top dollar as it will cost a good chunk of money and take up a decent amount of time.
FAQs
Chocolate-covered strawberries are cheap (and fun!) to make and might be an excellent, lucrative business venture for you! If you want to find out some more info, check out these frequently asked questions.
How much in advance can you make chocolate-covered strawberries?
It’s best to make chocolate-covered strawberries on the same day as you plan to sell them. They will be at their peak of freshness! However, if you’re in a serious time crunch, you can make them a day beforehand. Just store in an airtight container in the fridge until it’s time.
How many hours do chocolate-covered strawberries last?
Chocolate-covered strawberries are freshest within 48 hours after creation. So, it’s best to consume them before the 48-hour mark. That’s why it’s recommended to make them the same day when selling, so they don’t go bad too soon.
Can you freeze chocolate-covered strawberries?
Chocolate-covered strawberries can be frozen for up to three months when stored in an airtight container. (You might consider sharing storage options with your buyers, so they don’t accidentally bite into a musty, old strawberry – yuck!).
Final Words
Chocolate-covered strawberries are yummy, cheap, and easy to make, making them a great business idea. You can expect to sell your strawberries for $1 or $2. However, the final price will be determined by many factors, such as the type of chocolate used and any decorations requested.

Michelle
Hi! So if you purchase in bulk, such as these: https://www.amazon.com/Moretoes-Valentines-Chocolate-Strawberries-Muffins/dp/B08MF7LSWN, then they’re around a dollar per box. So, if you’re selling them with the box, you can charge an extra few dollars. If they’re requesting *customized* boxes, you can charge an extra $0.25 to $1 per strawberry, depending on how they want it customized.

Hi Lisa,
You’re right; prices have gone up since I wrote this article. Naturally, the price of selling chocolate-covered strawberries will increase, too. The best thing to do is to use these prices as a guideline, especially since different states/countries have varying costs for each product and ingredient. Hope this helps!
