Costco Vanilla Ice Cream
Summary
The Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream is an excellent option for vanilla ice cream lovers. It’s impossibly silky smooth, and with “Fresh Cream” as the main ingredient, you can guarantee a creamy texture and flavor. You get two-half gallons of vanilla ice cream per purchase.
I think the Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream is incredibly delicious. The texture is silky, and your spoon can glide right into it. The vanilla flavor is definitely pronounced (in the best way possible). This ice cream will easily be a great treat on its own or combined with other flavors, such as chocolate syrup, a slice of pie, etc.
What I Like: Very creamy texture, strong vanilla flavor, easy to use and store.
What I Don’t Like: A bit overpriced.
Who makes Kirkland Signature Premium Vanilla Ice Cream?
Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream is produced by Humboldt Creamery, located in Humboldt County, California.
What are the ingredients in Kirkland Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream?
Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream has very few ingredients. The ingredients include Fresh Cream, Skim Milk, Sugar, Pasteurized Egg Yolks, Vanilla Extract, Carob Bean Gum, and Guar Gum, according to the back of the container.
What is the difference between premium and super-premium ice cream?
“Premium” ice cream has around 11% to 15% butterfat and up to 90% overrun – which is the amount of air that’s whipped into the frozen dessert while freezing. On the other hand, “Super Premium” has a higher fat content, with around 18%, and less than 50% overrun.
When it comes to the great chocolate vs. vanilla ice cream debate, I’m on vanilla’s side. There is something irresistible about a bowl of creamy ice cream loaded with vanilla flavor. Naturally, I had to try the Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream.

Detailed Review
Are you thinking about dipping your spoon into this delicious vanilla ice cream? I don’t blame you! But before you run off to Costco, let’s go over some basic info you’ll definitely want to know.
Location in Costco Store
As you may assume, Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream is located in the freezer section. It’s typically surrounded by other yummy frozen desserts.
The item number for Costco’s vanilla ice cream is 948400.
Simply head to the freezer section – you can spot these massive packages of vanilla ice cream from a mile away, I promise!
Price
During my recent trip to Costco, I purchased the vanilla ice cream for $14.99.
Personally, I feel the price should be a bit lower. I was expecting around $12.99.
However, keep in mind you get two half gallons per package. That’s enough ice cream to last a very long time or feed a very large crowd.
Ease of Use/Store
The Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream is a breeze to use. Just open the box, remove one of the half-gallons of ice cream, pop the top off, and dive right in. The texture is ideal for scooping – no rock-hard ice cream containers!
To store, all you need to do is place the lid back on top and stash it toward the back of your freezer.
When stored correctly, Costco’s ice cream should last around a year. For reference, I purchased my ice cream on 9/24/2023, and the “best-by” date says 8/24/2023.
As I always state, though, it’s best to consume items sooner rather than later. The quality, texture, and flavor will be better.
Taste
The taste is fantastic.
And yes, I know it’s hard for some people to imagine that plain vanilla ice cream could be “amazing.” But with a single bite, you’ll definitely agree.
The Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream sings the tune of bold vanilla flavoring – unlike other vanilla ice creams I’ve tried, which tend to be lackluster with subtle hints of vanilla.
The texture is also fabulous. Seriously, I have never put my spoon into a silkier scoop of vanilla ice cream.
With the flavor and texture, this ice cream can easily be eaten alone. However, I like adding things to give it more spunk. For example, I love to add a scoop of this ice cream alongside brownies or topped with chocolate syrup, nuts, and whipped cream.
My kids loved this ice cream, too – a kid-friendly vanilla!
Nutrition
This ice cream has only seven ingredients, with the first being “Fresh Cream.”
Fewer ingredients mean you don’t have to worry about unhealthy or unsafe additives or preservatives, which already gives this ice cream an edge over the competition.
Note that this ice cream contains milk and eggs. It’s also processed in a facility that may handle peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, and soybeans.
This vanilla ice cream is high in terms of calories and other nutritional content.
A single serving (2/3 cup) has 360 calories with 23 grams of fat and 30 grams of sugar. Not very diet-friendly.
Final Verdict
If you want a smooth and yummy bowl of vanilla ice cream, I 100% recommend the Costco Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream – and that’s coming from someone who considers themselves a vanilla ice cream aficionado.
